The Role

The Business Development Director or Sr Director (BDD/Sr) will be a member of the sales and marketing team responsible for selling procurement services within our Digital Transformation practice.

Candidates must be self-starters with proven positions of leadership. Will work on a full-time basis. Mental agility and the ability to learn are vital. The ability to take on new challenges and succeed beyond one’s comfort zone is required.

Day to Day You Will

Pipeline Opportunity Creation and Management: Identify specific sales opportunities within existing and prospective Velocity clients. Collaborate with client’s team to determine requirements and/or specifications, build a client value proposition, identify win themes, and create strategy and plan for closing. Using Velocity’s dedicated sales processes and tools, determine and recommend opportunities for pursuit. Engage in activities focused on generating market awareness of the firm and/or demand for the firm’s services.

Services Selling: Develop, validate, qualify, and close services opportunities to all industry verticals in North America, with an emphasis on Velocity’s Digital Transformation practice; however, the BDD/Sr must be prepared to understand and present the entire line of Velocity services portfolio with subject matter expertise in procurement and consultative/solution selling.

Our Ideal Candidate Will Have

Velocity prefers someone with an understanding of, and experience in, a procurement practitioner role or sales experience in procurement consulting, managed services/procurement outsourcing, and/or procurement software.  The ideal candidate will have:

  • Deep procurement knowledge in areas such as Source-to-Pay technology, sourcing, category management, procurement operations, etc.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in a related field and a minimum of 5 years of sales/sales management experience.
  • The ability to actively engage with industry business executives, mostly C-Level personnel (CFO, CPO, COO, CIO) to articulate the impact of our procurement services and offerings across the various horizontals.
  • Solid familiarity with the procurement industry and a good overall understanding of the trends and best practices.
  • A proven track record in consistently meeting/exceeding sales goals.
  • Excellent communication/negotiating/presentation/closing skills with customers/prospects as well as with internal resources.
  • This is a US-based position; applicants must be fully authorized to work in the US.
  • Demonstrates working knowledge with MS-Office suite of software applications and tools, including: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project, MS-Outlook.
  • Prior use of sales and marketing software such as SalesForce, Pardot, ZoomInfo, etc.
